Diagnostics & service

A code tells us where to look. Testing tells us what's wrong.

Free code reads at parts stores are useful, but a code like P0301 means “cylinder 1 misfire”, not “replace the spark plug.” Here is what a proper diagnosis involves.

  1. 1

    Interview

When does it happen? Cold, hot, at speed, after rain? Your answers narrow it faster than any scanner.

  2. 2

    Scan and freeze-frame

Stored codes plus the engine conditions at the moment each one set.

  3. 3

    Live data

Fuel trims, sensor readings and misfire counters while the engine runs.

  4. 4

    Pinpoint tests

Swap a coil, measure a circuit, smoke-test for vacuum leaks. Prove the cause.

  5. 5

    Report and quote

What failed, how we know, and what it costs to fix. Then you decide.

Maintenance by the book, your book.

We follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, by mileage and age. If the shop down the road is recommending a flush that isn't in your schedule, bring the quote. We'll tell you honestly.
