Most breakdowns give a warning first. Here's when to listen.

Watch for

A burning-dust smell the first time the heat runs. Normal for a few minutes, not for an hour.

Book

Heating tune-up, if you haven't yet. Installs before the ground freezes.

How we work

Everything is written down before anything is fixed.

  1. 1

    You describe it

By phone or form. What it's doing, since when, and what's installed.

  2. 2

    We confirm a window

A day and a two-hour window. The technician calls on the way.

  3. 3

    You read the findings

What was tested, what failed, and the options, with prices.

  4. 4

    You sign, then we start

If something changes once a panel is open, we stop and ask again.

Where we work

Ten towns, close enough for a same-afternoon look.

Same-afternoon visits depend on the day's schedule; the dispatcher will tell you honestly. Outside these towns? Ask anyway. Sample service area.

Plain answers.

Is a request the same as a confirmed appointment?

No. A request gives the dispatcher what they need to call you back. The appointment is confirmed when you agree on a day and a two-hour window.

Do you quote replacements over the phone?

Not honestly. A useful estimate depends on the house, the ductwork, the electrical panel and how you use the rooms, so it starts with a visit.

What should I check before calling about no heat?

Thermostat set to heat and powered, the furnace switch on, and a filter that isn't packed with dust. Don't open burner or electrical panels.

Which equipment do you work on?

Gas and oil furnaces, boilers, central air, ducted and ductless heat pumps, and the thermostats and ductwork that connect them.

Cold house tonight?

Call (203) 555-0148. A dispatcher reads every request during business hours.
