Services, sorted by the system you have.
Each section lists the equipment we work on and the signs that usually bring people to us. If one of them sounds familiar, the request link fills in the service for you.
Gas and oil furnaces, boilers, baseboard and radiator systems
Heating repair
Most no-heat calls come down to ignition, airflow, a safety switch doing its job, or a part that has finally worn out. The first visit is about finding which one.
Common reasons people call
- The burner lights and shuts off within a minute
- Some rooms are warm and others never catch up
- Radiators bang, gurgle or stay cold at the top
- The furnace runs but the air from the vents is lukewarm
Central air conditioners, ductless systems and heat pumps in cooling mode
Cooling repair
When the air stops feeling cold, the cause is usually airflow, refrigerant, a failed capacitor or a drain problem. We check the simple things first so you are not paying for guesses.
Common reasons people call
- Outdoor unit hums but the fan does not turn
- Ice on the copper line or the indoor coil
- Water around the furnace or air handler
- The house feels clammy even when the system runs
Ducted and ductless (mini-split) heat pumps, including cold-climate models
Heat pumps
Heat pumps behave differently from furnaces, and a lot of service calls are really questions. We repair them, tune them, and explain what normal looks like in a Connecticut winter.
Common reasons people call
- Steam from the outdoor unit for a few minutes (usually a normal defrost)
- Thick ice that does not clear between defrost cycles
- Backup heat running constantly and bills climbing
- Indoor heads dripping or blinking a code
Every system we repair, once in fall and once in spring
Seasonal maintenance
A maintenance visit is cleaning, testing and adjusting, written up in plain English. It is also the cheapest time to find a weak part, before it fails on a holiday weekend.
Common reasons people call
- No one has looked at the system in over a year
- The filter has not been changed since you moved in
- You want a record of the equipment's condition before a sale
- You are not sure what the warranty requires
Filters, humidifiers, ventilation, and duct problems
Indoor air and airflow
Dry winter air, a damp basement, dust that comes back a week after cleaning, or one room that is always stuffy. These are airflow problems, and they are usually fixable.
Common reasons people call
- Static shocks and cracked woodwork every winter
- Musty smell when the air conditioning starts
- Visible gaps or crushed flex duct in the attic
- A bedroom that is five degrees off the rest of the house
